On 13 September 2025, Kong Fanping, Deputy Party Secretary and Mayor of Weihai, led a Weihai trade delegation to visit the Representative Office of the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade in Australia and the Australia-China Commerce and Industry Alliance (ACCIA).

The visit included a roundtable on trade and economic cooperation, culture and tourism, education, and marine fisheries. The delegation presented Weihai's industrial strengths and business environment, with the aim of deepening engagement with Oceania, promoting in-depth exchange across sectors, and advancing investment attraction, innovation and entrepreneurship, and external trade and economic cooperation for Weihai.

The visit further strengthened exchange and mutual trust between Weihai and the Australian business community, and laid the groundwork for practical cooperation between the two sides in trade and economic cooperation, culture and tourism exchange, and seafood — with Weihai and Sydney to pursue practical cooperation in areas such as cold-chain logistics and seafood trade — jointly opening a new chapter of mutual benefit and win-win outcomes.
