Connecting with the Australian Market: Empowering Cross-Border Agricultural Cooperation

From 11 to 12 August, ACCIA Executive President Mr Zheng Maoqiang and Australia Zhaoqing Chamber of Commerce President Mr Su Yongjian jointly hosted a visiting delegation led by Mr Gao Xiang, Chairman of Guangzhou Tianchu Agricultural Development Co., Ltd. and Guangzhou Tianchu Supply Chain Technology Co., Ltd.

Chairman Gao Xiang's visit to Australia focused on assessing agricultural projects, covering crop cultivation and resort-based tourism developments.

Accompanied by President Zheng and President Su, the group drove to Yarras Farm, some 450 kilometres from Sydney, to meet its owner, Raymond. The property sits near a highway exit about 50 kilometres from Port Macquarie and covers roughly 7.6 square kilometres. Three rivers run through the farm, its government-approved water allocation is generous, and the land is sunny, fertile and flat — well suited to cultivation.

Chairman Gao made a careful study of the farm's conditions, inspecting its water sources and soil quality on site. The two sides reached agreement on jointly developing ginger and other crops as a next step. At the same time, President Su of the Australia Zhaoqing Chamber of Commerce and farm owner Raymond reached a preliminary agreement to jointly develop a stargazing-cabin tourism project.

Raymond said his farm offers extensive land and that he welcomes entrepreneurs to develop it in partnership — not only in agriculture and tourism, but also across emerging sectors such as livestock, solar power, energy storage and computing centres.

It is hoped that this visit will create business opportunities for enterprises in both Australia and China, allowing each side to draw on its own strengths for mutual benefit and shared growth.
