Statement by ACCIA

Regarding the severe violent terrorist attack that occurred at Bondi Beach, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia, on 14 December 2025, the Australia-China Commerce and Industry Alliance issues a strong condemnation.

That afternoon, a shooting occurred at a festive gathering area on Bondi Beach. According to the latest updates from police and multiple media outlets, the incident has resulted in 16 deaths and more than 40 injuries. Police have classified it as a terrorist attack targeting a holiday celebration of the local Jewish community.

This is one of the deadliest shooting incidents in Australia since the 1996 Port Arthur massacre, and has been officially recognised as a terrorist act driven by strong antisemitic motives.

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese described it in an official statement as an “evil act of antisemitic terrorism,” stressing that such violence and hatred have no place in Australian society, and that the government would “root out” hatred and terrorism completely.

We are deeply shocked and saddened by the significant casualties caused by this attack. We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims, and our sincere sympathy to all those injured and affected.

We call on all sectors of society to jointly uphold a safe, inclusive society governed by the rule of law, to support the government and law enforcement agencies in conducting a thorough investigation and strengthening community protection, and to work together to resist extremism and racial hatred, so as to build a future of peace and prosperity together.
