On the evening of 25 February 2026, as the Australia-China Free Trade Agreement entered its second decade, ACCIA attended a Chinese New Year dinner in Sydney at the invitation of the NSW Parliament. Chairman Su Xinfeng, together with Executive President Zheng Maoqiang, Honorary Chairman Dr Michael Li and a number of business leaders, attended the reception.

Close to four hundred guests from Australian political, business and community circles gathered together to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. The atmosphere was warm and convivial, fully reflecting the inclusiveness and vitality of Australia's multicultural society.

Guests held wide-ranging discussions on strengthening trade ties, deepening cooperation across multiple fields, and promoting cultural exchange between communities.

Ms Kellie Sloane MP, Leader of the Opposition in NSW, spoke highly of the outstanding contribution of the Chinese community to the development of NSW, and extended New Year greetings to the Chinese community across the state.

Tim James MP, NSW Shadow Minister for Fair Trading, Work Health and Safety and Building, Shadow Minister for Local Government, and Shadow Minister for Veterans, addressed the event. ACCIA was founded in August 2012 and is a prominent community organisation dedicated to advancing Australia-China trade cooperation and cultural exchange. Both major parties, at the federal level and in NSW, have spoken highly of the positive and valuable contribution ACCIA has made to Australia-China friendship, trade and cultural ties.

Over the decade since the Australia-China Free Trade Agreement came into effect, ACCIA has actively built platforms for exchange and cooperation between Australian and Chinese businesses, serving as a bridge in trade and investment, cultural and educational cooperation, technology and innovation, and climate-related development, and helping deepen practical bilateral cooperation on an ongoing basis. This invitation to attend the NSW Shadow Ministers' Spring Festival reception reflects both the Alliance's positive influence across Australian society and its continued commitment to advancing the bilateral relationship.
